The Play Counter helps ensure that players receive the required number of plays during the game (minimum 10 plays).Play Counters will work alongside a representative from the opposing team. One person identifies the jersey numbers of players participating in each play while the other records them on the official play-count sheet.​ At the end of the game, the completed sheet is reviewed and signed as required.One volunteer is required for Play Count at both home and away games.Volunteers for this position must arrive 10 minutes before the game begins on the player side of the field.

Each home team must provide 3 volunteers to work along the sideline with the officials to mark the line of scrimmage, down and distance during the game.Volunteers will operate the down marker and yardage chains and move them as directed by the officials.No football experience is necessary. The referee will provide direction throughout the game. This is also one of the best volunteer positions if you want a close-up view of the action from the sideline.Volunteers must arrive 10 minutes before the game begins on the spectator side of the field.

Game Commissioner

The Game Commissioner helps maintain the official game record and is required at home games only.The Game Commissioner is responsible for recording:- Home and visiting team scores- The player name or jersey number associated with each scoring play- Major penalties- Player numbers associated with reportable penalties- Other information required on the official game sheet- The Commissioner generally works from the player side of the field near midfield and follows information provided by the officials during the game.If clarification is needed during the game, the Commissioner can confirm the information with the referee.Completed game sheets must be returned to the appropriate Team Manager or game official following the game.

Team Fruit

One family is responsible for bringing fruit for the team at each game.Please bring enough washed and prepared fruit/snacks for the players on your team to have during their half-time at the game. Easy-to-serve options such as orange slices, watermelon, grapes, berries, apple/fruit sauce pouches or other team-friendly snacks work well.Please keep any known food allergies or team-specific instructions in mind and check with your Team Manager if you are unsure what to bring.One Fruit Volunteer is required for every home and away game.

Field Setup

For the first home game of the day, volunteers may be required to help prepare the field before games begin.Depending on the venue and game requirements, setup may include:- Placing field markers- Setting up team benches- Installing goalpost padding- Positioning required game-day equipment- Hanging Spartans or sponsor signage- Assisting with any additional field preparation requested by the team or AssociationBecause players generally arrive well before kickoff for warmups, this is often a convenient volunteer role for parents already bringing their athlete to the field early.

Question 6

Field Take Down

If your team is playing the final home game of the day, volunteers may be required to help return the field to its proper condition.Duties may include:- Returning field markers and equipment to storage- Putting benches away- Removing banners or signage- Returning goalpost or sideline equipment- Ensuring the Spartans' equipment and field area are left organizedTeam Managers or Spartans coaches will provide instructions regarding what needs to be completed at each venue.
