PARENT VOLUNTEERS

The Victoria Spartans are powered by our community.

Like many community football organizations, the Spartans rely on parent and family volunteers to help our teams, games and events run successfully throughout the season. From working the chains on the sideline to helping in the concession or assisting with field setup, every volunteer role contributes to the experience we are able to provide our athletes.

You do not need football experience to get involved. Most volunteer positions require very little time, and we will make sure you know exactly what you need to do.

Volunteering is also one of the best ways to become part of the Spartans community, meet other families and experience your athlete's season from a whole different perspective.

Football takes a team off the field, too.

Take a look at the volunteer opportunities HERE to see how you can help.

Your Volunteer Shift

If you have a volunteer position:

Please arrive at the time provided by your Team Manager and check in when you arrive.

If you cannot attend your scheduled shift, notify your Team Manager as early as possible. Once volunteer schedules have been distributed, families are responsible for arranging coverage if they are unable to complete their assigned shift.

Please also confirm with your Team Manager once your volunteer duty has been completed so your family's volunteer commitment can be properly recorded.

Football is a team sport, and that extends beyond the players on the field. When every Spartans family contributes a little, we can provide a better experience for every athlete in the program.

Why Do Families Submit a Volunteer Cheque?

At registration, families are required to provide a volunteer cheque as a commitment to completing their required volunteer duties during the season.

The volunteer cheque is not intended to be an additional registration fee. It acts as a volunteer deposit.

Community football depends heavily on parent participation. Without volunteers, the Association would either need to hire people to perform these roles, significantly increase registration fees, or, in some circumstances, risk being unable to properly host a game.

By sharing these responsibilities among our families, we are able to keep the program running and keep football as accessible and affordable as possible.

Once your family's required volunteer commitment has been completed and recorded, your volunteer cheque will be returned or destroyed in accordance with the Spartans' volunteer policy.

Families who do not complete their required volunteer commitment may have their volunteer cheque deposited.

If you are unable to attend a scheduled volunteer shift, it is your responsibility to notify your Team Manager and arrange appropriate coverage.

Team or Event Support

Throughout the season, additional volunteer opportunities may arise for tournaments, playoffs, special events, equipment support, fundraising or other Spartans activities.

Families may occasionally be asked to help with these responsibilities in addition to regular-season home games.

Most volunteer positions require no previous football experience. Instructions will be provided, and many roles give you one of the best views of the game.
