2025/2026 PARENT / PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT
PURPOSE
​
The Spartans are committed to providing a safe, positive, and respectful football environment.
This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behavior expected from all players and parents/guardians. Violations may result in suspension or removal from the program.

GENERAL PRINCIPLES
​
All participants will:

Put safety, respect, and sportsmanship first

Treat others with dignity regardless of race, gender, ability, background, or beliefs
-
Follow the rules of football and the spirit of fair play
-
Respect coaches, officials, teammates, opponents, and volunteers
-
Represent the Spartans in a positive manner on or off the field

PLAYER RESPONSIBILITIES

Players are expected to:

1. Effort & Commitment
-
Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to participate
-
Give best effort in games, practices, and team activities
​
2. Respect & Sportsmanship
-
Support teammates, never ridicule or bully
-
Accept officials' decisions without argument
-
Use respectful language; avoid profanity, slurs, or trash talk
​
3. Safety
-
Play by the rules and wear proper equipment
-
Report injuries honestly and follow medical advice
-
Never use drugs, alcohol, vaping, or performance-enhancing substances
​
4. Conduct
-
No fighting, taunting, or deliberate attempts to injure
-
Refrain from harassment, hazing, or discrimination of any kind
-
Uphold team rules set by coaches

PARENT/GUARDIAN RESPONSIBILITIES
​
Parents are expected to:
​
1. Supportive Sidelines
-
Encourage all players, not just your child
-
Respect officials' decisions - no yelling, arguing, or abuse
-
Let coaches coach; avoid giving instructions from the sidelines
​
2. Positive Role Model
-
Demonstrate good sportsmanship before, during, and after games
-
Avoid criticism of players, coaches or referees
-
Address concerns privately with coaches or the Board, not publicly
​
3. Safe Environment
-
Do not consume drugs, tobacco, or alcohol at youth sporting events
-
Ensure players arrive on time, properly equipped, and are picked up promptly after practices/games
​
4. Respect & Compliance
-
All participants have a duty to report suspected harassment, abuse, discrimination, or unsafe behaviour
-
Reports will be taken seriously and addressed according to Spartans and league policy
-
Retaliation against anyone who reports concerns will not be tolerated
​
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
​
By participating in the Spartans program, players and parents agree to uphold this Code of Conduct. Breaches may result in warnings, suspension, or removal from the team.
